This is an exciting time for UP Nairobi.

The June Issue will be on UP racks this week; our print edition is back in circulation after a short hiatus. Meanwhile, our website celebrates a top-to-bottom reboot more than a year in the making. This year was spent re-imagining not only what UP Nairobi will look and feel like, but also just what UP Nairobi means to the community, why we’re here doing what we do. The new website is our way of opening our arms, virtually inviting you in, to commune with us, grow with us, change and challenge our urban perspectives.

We have launched our newly redesigned site to focus more on you, our readers and our community, with an intuitive navigation and a fresh style that reflects the diversity of the UP Nairobi experience. UP Nairobi can now travel with you, customizing itself to any platform– desktop, tablet or mobile – you happen to be reading it on; with better sharing tools to send out our stories. Our cleaner, more ergonomic design will crowd out the noise and lead you to our in-depth coverage of positive social change happening in Nairobi and beyond.

Our inspiration for innovating around our new website, for creating a new digital based initiative is entirely informed by the desire to engage and support with our readers. We have kept what you love most - music, arts and culture, nightlife and event coverage, and we’ve doubled the volume and sophistication of our more insightful features. The ability to comment on our content is now easier than ever, enabled via Facebook, Twitter, Google through Disqus. The more we hear from our community, the more we can respond and react to what you want to read.

As part of our redesign and commitment to community engagement come many new opportunities to feature and highlight the diverse business community in Kenya, with services designed to give a platform to our budding entrepreneurial culture - from cottage industries to tech firms and every glorious idea in between. UP Nairobi’s new digital-facing purpose has a mission to build our collective creative community, speak to this community, give voice to this community —call it a realignment to our very core and original purpose to be Nairobi’s “urban community magazine”.

Over this year long journey, many have been involved in the process of redesigning the website - our internal community here at UP Nairobi has come together between the teams from editorial, IT, design, marketing, staff and interns. We analysed, we studied, we watched the trends and what other media sites were doing to bring you a website that is as dynamic as our content.

We are ecstatic to share UP Nairobi version share.0 with our readers, and we hope you will share the love in turn. For everything you need on Nairobi’s Urban Perspective, UP Nairobi is the place - on our website, social media and even our newsletter.

The new UP Nairobi site is our baby and there will be a few teething problems, so we ask you, our readers, for your patience and feedback. If you have general comments, please join the conversation by commenting below. If you have specific issues to report, please email us at info@mondeas.com. We may not be able to answer every message, but we’ll be sure to read them all and use them to make improvements.

So, expect more changes from us in the days and weeks ahead, and let us know what you think… And most importantly, many, many thanks for reading.
