Are you a foodie? Do you love to indulge in good food in a serene environment? Well if you answered yes to both these questions you should head down to Ohcha Noodle Bar.
Ohcha, which translates to ‘delicious’ in Thai, truly lives up to its name by serving up exquisite Pan Asian cuisine. Located at the upmarket Westgate Mall near the mall’s front entrance, Ohcha is easy to spot.
To start our Ohcha experience, we ordered papaya salad and spring chicken rolls. Both starters were amazing. The papaya salad - which had papaya, carrots, cherry tomatoes, peanuts, lime dressing and coriander as garnish- was scrumptious and unusually filling. The spring chicken rolls, which came accompanied by a hot and sweet sauce, were equally delectable.
The starters were both marvellous, but nothing prepared our taste buds for one of our choices for the main course. Chicken and cashew nuts are often a winning combination but the one served at Ohcha was mindblowing! Served up in a porcelain bowl (in generous amounts), the chicken and cashew nuts was absolutely delightful. Consisting of fresh seasoned vegetables and served with jasmine rice, it was a spicy and tangy mouthwatering meal that left our taste buds craving for more.
We also ordered the Classic Pad Thai: rice noodle, tofu, mixed vegetables, egg, peanuts and Ohcha’s signature Pad Thai sauce. The meal can be accompanied with either vegetables, chicken or prawns depending on your preference. We chose prawns. Unlike the chicken cashew nuts, the meal underwhelmed us. The tofu was underseasoned giving the meal a rather bland taste that the delicious prawns couldn’t totally salvage.
However the coconut panna cotta we had for dessert totally made up for it. Served with a tree tomato purée, it looked splendid and tasted even better.The luscious panna cotta melts in the mouth leaving a sweet aftertaste. It was a fabulous way to cap off the meal.
Overall, other than the Classic Pad Thai, we enjoyed all our other meals. If you want tasty food and value for your money, we’d highly recommend you pay Ohcha a visit. You won’t be disappointed.
