Muthurukishion 2: Drums of Passion at The Alchemist Bar
#Muthurukishion is back! This time in tribute, commemoration and continuation of the legacy set by one of Africa’s greatest percussionists Babatunde Olatunji (1927-2003)
In 1959, Babatunde Olatunji did a wildly successful percussion album (Drums of Passion) in the United States that sold over five million copies. He was the first ever African drummer to make inroads and popularize African music in the West.
AmillionWays Wakake has been working on his own version of “Drums of Passion” an East African edition. Together with his team of seasoned, new and young talent playing alongside Michel Ongaro and Jackson Munala Anduuru on the sax, he will be bringing the team home to an electrifying debut performance at Nairobi’s The Alchemist Bar after delivering a performance at Førde Traditional and World Music Festival in Norway with Omar Mwatela, Saumu Mwatela and Faith Malkia.
The King of the afterparty is none other than DJ Somi of Ubantu Festival and Mwl. Gregg Tendwa is the guest Dj for the night. There will be a special appearance from AfroXchange,coming straight from the Berklee College of Music.

Black & White Party at the Tree House Nairobi

Interrogation at Alliance Francaise
Interrogation is a vibrant, cynical and funny political satire by the Egyptian playwright Farid Kamil, directed and produced by Alakie Mboya. This one act play looks at the predicament of survival in a colonial state and shows that the woman is the voice of reason, the representative of the ordinary citizens. Interrogation is presented by Shangari Communications and cast includes George Mutunga, Pauline Otieno and Byron Majumbe.
Time: The opening show is at 6:30 PM with other showings throughout the weekend

51- Nzilani - A Man on a Journey at the Michael Joseph Centre
Elsaphan Njora once again takes to the stage to explore the journey of life through the spoken word. Elsaphan will be joined by friends on stage and opens up about himself and his life, and this crazy trip we call life.

Albatross at Braeburn Gitanga
The Youth Theatre Kenya (YTK) presents Albatross, Wings of Freedom. This play delves into African history combining folklore with historical fact. Set in the late 1880s in Zanzibar the play is inspired by the true story of Bishop Charles Smythies and the struggle to stope the black market slave trade. The YTK showcases young talents from the age of 11 to 21 on the cast.

Public Talk with Ralph Chikukwa at the Goethe Institut
The second part of Goethe’s curatorial workshop around the “Sasa Nairobi” exhibition features Raphael Chikukwa. Raphael was born in Zimbabwe and has worked mainly as an independent curator before joining the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in 2010 as its Chief Curator. He is the founding curator of the 1st Zimbabwe Pavilion in 2011 and also curated the Zimbabwe Pavilion 2013 and 2015 at the Venice Biennale. Raphael was awarded the 2006 - 2007 Chevening Scholar and now holds an MA Curating Contemporary Design from Kingston University London.
