With their latest single Money Lover ruling the airwaves, Kenyan foursome boy band Sauti Sol is in for an even bigger space. They are jetting out of the country today at around 5.00 pm local time for Lagos where they will perform at the inaugural Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) slated for March 9th. Sauti Sol will share the stage with other African stars among them veteran Nigerian Musician Femi Kuti as well as sensational Nigerian diva Tiwa Savage known for her catchy Kele Kele hit and the sensational Banky W.

While at our UP offices, band member Willis Austin Chimano spoke highly of what’s in store, “The event will be broadcasted live like Big Brother Africa and we will not be very far from our usual stellar performances.”As the year progresses, advancing their brand into Africa seems to be top on the agenda, as Chimano revealed. “The [experience] will be good for us as we are working towards being more present and big in Africa. We have gone on tour in Europe and the United States and now made a decision to refocus on Africa.”

Their performance will last only about three minutes but the band promises Africa that it will be worth the time and salt. “We will try to make everyone happy as well as fit in the [short] performance time frame,” says Chimano.The two and a half hour gala event will be a celebration of the African Television and Film Industry that will present among African productions, our very own Lies That Bind crew and Nollywood glitterati like Desmond Elliot, Genevieve Nnaji and Rita Dominic and guest-presenters. The 1st Annual Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards will be held in Lagos, Nigeria on the 9th March 2013 at the Eko Hotel. The show will be going live around the continent across all Africa Magic DSTV channels.
