July has really been the month for fashion in Nairobi, with an array of events to attend, such as the East African Designer's fair. We tagged along with indie musician August Cellars, and worked the room, with you in mind, to find the best the vendors had to offer. Designers included the likes of Karembo, Diva Gals Fashion's, Bombolulu and ChilliMango (whom we are currently obsessing over, due to the accessories they supply to online high street shop ChicoLeco). We can safely say a lot of Kenyan designers are leaning toward very urban and chic creations. This means less couture items, which is not necessarily a bad thing-- Nairobians are staunch believers in practicality. A plus to this year’s display is the infusion of an Afro-chic twist. It is a breath of life from the boring, generic clothing we see in the city. |

We know these gigs may seem pricy but the whole thing gave us more places in Nairobi to shop. Not to mention the custom items you could buy at affordable or slightly expensive prices. We call them “investments”. Contact us on our blog to get your hands on some of these gorgeous finds! |
